.......These 13 students were among 1.4 million high school juniors from across the country who entered the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The 16,000 highest-scoring students, who represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, were named semifinalists.

They are among about 16,000 scholars nationwide who will compete for $33 million in scholarships.
