McQueen HS Sophomore Kai Benedict shattered the Sophomore Reed HS stadium record for the 1600m and the 3200m in the 2013 Reed Sparks Rotary Invitational.  

In the 2012 XC season, Kai defeated Jordan Cardenas (Reno HS and eentual 2012 Nevada State XC Champion) in a dual meet and also out ran Cardenas in the High Desert League Championships.

When Jordan Cardenas came back a week later  to win the North Region XC Championships, he gave the Kai the ultimate compliment in the Reno Gazette -- saying to the effect, Kai is so much farther in his running prowness as a Sophomore than he was.

Indeed, the observation seems to be holding true so far in this 2013 track and field season.

With two stadium records under his belt, Kai now as added to his resume by having the best time in Nevada to-date for the 3200m (9:22:25 reported by runnerspace.com/nv) and once again defeated Jordan Cardenas in the same meet.

It should be quite interesting when the North Region Track & Field Championships roll around and the two stallward toe the line along with Cody Forman (Reed HS).
